Meridian Foods - Chicken Tikka Masala

OK, so its not as easy as going to the Indian takeaway but it is possible to enjoy a chicken tikka masala without dairy. This evenings dinner was a bit like a ready meal Indian but Meridian Foods make a tasty Tikka Masala sauce that is free from wheat, gluten and dairy. At £1.89 (in my local health food shop, Nicholsons of Kingsbridge) for a 350g jar it is no more expensive than most cooking sauces.
Next to be tested the Creamy Mushroom and White Wine sauce!
Hmmm so the Creamy Mushroom and White Wine sauce is not for me!  The strength of the soya and white wine is not my favourite combination. Has anyone else tried it and loved it?

Pataks - Chicken Tikka Masala

Mmmmm my favourite Friday night meal to replace takeaway has to be Pataks Tikka Masala Paste. This requires a little more cooking but really anyone can do it. All the great flavour you expect from an Indian meal with one single adaptation for dairy free. Follow all the instructions and use Alpro Soya Cream at the end instead of dairy cream. Delicious with rice and poppadoms. At £2.02 for 283g it is well worth buying as this should last you more than one meal (it suggests 1/4 of a jar but who's watching the extra spoonful?).

Takeaway
Of course there are Indian takeaway restaurants who sell other dishes that contain no dairy, always ask you never know what you might find!
