At this time of year we are often found assessing the past and contemplating the future. What better time to look at what we eat, where it comes from and how it affects us. These thoughts are often directed at weight loss or abstinence from "naughty" foods. However as an allergy sufferer I prefer to look at increasing my range of options.
Despite my appearance of eating solely chocolate and treats all day, every day I try to provide a balanced diet that the whole family can enjoy. Healthy eating to us isn't an extreme diet where foods other than fruit, nuts and vegetables are banned. Our diet is a combination of allergen free staples made interesting and nutritious by the inspiration gleaned from great chefs and cooks on tv, from books and online.
I resolve this year to continue trying new foods, cooking them in new ways, in different combinations and challenging myself to achieve more in the kitchen than just eating subconsciously.
