Just because my stomach doesn't behave and I have trouble with certain foods doesn't mean I don't want to enjoy a drink like other people can! Ok, so I know that I can't drink like I did when I was a student and I certainly pick and choose my drinks carefully these days. However, I was delighted when visiting the RHS Malvern Spring Flower Show this May to have the opportunity to pick the brains of the lovely guys at Thunder Vodka.
This alluring tipple had me intriuged straight away. I have an incredibly sweet tooth and if I am going to have a drink it might as well be something small and mighty. Thunder is a toffee flavoured vodka. Made popular in the French ski resort of Val D'Isere, toffee vodka can be drunk on its own, over ice or mixed in a variety of cocktails. This Great Taste gold award winning vodka uses ingredients sourced entirely in he UK and can be used in variety of cocktail recipes found on their website.
I tried a sample at the show and bought a miniature, their website also offers 70cl bottles. I was planning on using some in a glamorous alcoholic cupcake recipe but in true "no self control" style I drank it before I could make them!
Thunder is made from triple distilled grain vodka and natural toffee syrup from cane sugar. It carries no guarantee of being gluten free or dairy free but after careful questioning of its creators I can see no reason why it should be contaminated with either. The distillation process refines the grain to the point of zero gluten and nothing is added back into the end product. The toffee syrup contains no dairy ingredients just pure cane sugar.
